You may have noticed this device outside of the group study rooms on the fifth floor of Love Library. It’s a geochron, which is an instrument that simultaneously exhibits the current time anywhere in the world while also displaying where the sun is rising and setting. It also shows the day and month. It was given to the library by Aztec Shops in memory of Costas Lyrintzis, a professor of engineering at SDSU who was killed by a gunman on campus in 1996. Stop by and take a look at the geochron sometime. An instruction sheet taped to the table explains how to use it.
